As part of the e-Sailor series of mobile apps, US Military Rank & Reference adopts an interactive approach to learning through engaging game scenarios. The app presents various elements linked to Military rank such as collar devices, sleeve insignia, and shoulder boards. Users are challenged with multiple-choice options, earning points for each correct identification. With incorrect responses, the app reinforces learning by displaying the correct insignia.

Introducing a time element to the game adds an extra layer of challenge, rewarding users with bonus points for swift and accurate answers. Users compete against the app itself, eliminating performance pressure. Progression within the app spans Navy ranks from 0-4,999 points, advancing to Navy/Marine at 5,000-8,999 points, and reaching the highest tier encompassing Navy/Marine, Air Force, and Army ranks at 9,000+ points.

The app allows users to familiarize themselves with a wide range of Navy ranks - from entry-level Seaman to Chief Petty Officer, extending to the esteemed ranks of senior Admirals. Alternatively, users can switch to the Marine Corps category to explore ranks from Private to Gunnery Sergeant to General. Additionally, Army and Air Force ranks and insignia are all included in the comprehensive scope of the app.
